Here are some fantastic winter sports to try:
Netball can be played by anyone of any age. It’s fun, social and low contact. Many games can also be played indoors if it’s cold out and team often meet in the evening so you can attend after work or school.
If you’re lucky enough to get to the snow this winter, give skiing or snowboarding a go. Most ski resorts offer ski lessons and lift passes can be bought as part of a hotel package. Both sports will help burn energy and work up an appetite for a healthy dinner back at the hotel.
If you’d prefer a winter sport you can do all year round, try ice skating. Most cities have a few ice skating rinks and once you get the hang of it you could also try speed skating or ice hockey.
If you love tennis but don’t want to brave the cold, why not try squash. Squash gives you a great workout and improves hand eye coordination. There are plenty of squash courts in all major cities so why not grab a friend and learn how to play?
If you’re worried about the high contact of football for yourself or your kids, try Oztag. The rules of the game are very similar however the aim is to capture the Velcro tags off opponents’ shorts.
There is a lot of running involved so your heart rate is guaranteed to stay elevated while playing.
