Easter Baskets Made Healthy

Easter is a special occasion where we might overindulge and chocolate temptations are available everywhere we look!  Easter wouldn’t be Easter without the obligatory chocolate egg, however, it is possible to have too much of a good thing. Why not mix up your Easter gifts this year to look after your loved ones health? We’ve have put together an alternative Easter gift guide.  It offers a host of ideas for making Easter fun while keeping the chocolate down to manageable quantities.

Here are our top tips for a healthier Easter basket:

Chocolate Covered Fruit

For a chocolate fix with a healthy dose of fruit, dip whole strawberries, blueberries, or banana slices in melted chocolate (preferably dark chocolate).

Baked Goods

Baking some homemade chocolate inspired treats is another healthy alternative to Easter eggs. Some cacao brownies or protein balls are a delicious and creative addition to your gift baskets and can be less expensive than buying copious amounts of packaged chocolate eggs. They also add a personal touch to your basket.

Chocolate Nuts

Instead of chocolate eggs, why not add some dark chocolate covered nuts to your Easter baskets. Almonds or macadamias are best!

Toys, Crafts or Stationary

Yes, we know what you’re thinking, kids already have enough toys! But by swapping the chocolate bunny for a fluffy bunny for the little ones, you are hopefully lessening their chocolate consumption. Stationary, books or sporting goods are also great present ideas for the kids.

Decorated Eggs

Decorating hard boiled eggs for an extra special Easter breakfast is a great way to celebrate. All you need is some water colours or dye and white vinegar for a festive start to your Easter morning!

Gift Vouchers/ Events

For a small sized yet generous basket filler with a lot of opportunity, throw in a gift card for an indulgent, relaxing massage or day spa. If you are feeling really generous, you could even buy your loved one tickets to a concert or event that they would like to attend! Your friend or family member will feel spoilt even after Easter has come and gone.

Fruit and Vegetable Hamper

For the family members who aren’t chocolate crazed, add some fresh fruit and vegies to their Easter baskets. Look online for fruit and vegetables that are in season to make this gift more affordable.
