The new GS1 GoScan app has just been released! Back in January we posted a blog article about the world of health apps and this month we are very excited to add another to our favorites list!
What is it, and how can it help me?
GS1GoScan gives valuable and trusted data (coming directly from brand owners) about products covering eight categories: ingredient list, allergens, nutrition, dietary information, storage and preparation and a basics section. An impressive list and this information can be critical to know, particularly when food allergies are a concern. For many of us, we just like to know what we are putting in our bodies and making the best health choice possible.
How do I use it?
Once you have installed the application on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can then search for products in one of three ways. By scanning the bar code of the product (the easiest way!), manually typing the bar code or performing a text search based on the product brand name or description.
Price?
FREE. You can download the GS1 GoScan application directly from iTunes. Apparently other platforms e.g. android systems are planned for the future.
Verdict?
Well, it hasn’t been around for long but from our limited use, the app it easy to use. Take a quick scan of the product barcode and in seconds you can view a huge amount of detailed product information in the palm of your hands via your trusty phone.
