“My journey with LifeShape was inspired by my daughters, Pippa. and Sophie, who had both experienced incredible success with the program. Seeing their transformations ignited a desire within me to make a change in my own life. I was acutely aware of my unhealthy habits and the dire consequences it held for my future. The thought of not being able to see my grandchildren, let alone play with them on the floor, due to the physical challenges I faced, was a wake-up call.

Emotional eating had been a constant companion since the age of 10, and I had struggled with yo-yo dieting for as long as I could remember. I had seen pockets of success in the past, but I always managed to sabotage myself and throw in the towel. What truly set my LifeShape journey apart was the unwavering support from the entire team, but I must emphasise the pivotal role of the two dietitians who guided me on my path to health and wellness.

I refuse to label LifeShape as just another diet; instead, I see it as a journey towards health and wellness. When people ask me about my incredible transformation and inquire about the diet I'm on, I tell them that I'm not on a diet but rather a health and wellness journey.

One aspect I loved was that I could still enjoy the foods I liked. Together with my dietitians, we delved into the emotional triggers that had driven my eating habits and found viable solutions. They even supported me when I faced the daunting task of choosing what to eat at a restaurant by dissecting the menu with me. They consistently checked in on my plans for the upcoming week and addressed any concerns I had about my food choices.

One of the most profound lessons I've learned is that no food is inherently "bad." I've also come to understand the importance of being kind to myself, a crucial element on my path to transformation. For the past 30 years, I had carried the burden of being morbidly obese. I've come to realise that change doesn't happen overnight; after all, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Today, I view food as a friend, not an enemy. I've shifted my mindset away from using food as a reward, opting for non-food treats like lounging in a warm bath, going for a refreshing swim, immersing myself in a good book, or indulging in creative crafts.

Yet, it wasn't all smooth sailing. My biggest challenge was embracing exercise. I was content with daily walks, but I staunchly declared, "I don't do exercise!" Unfortunately, after only three months on the program, I lost a significant amount of muscle mass, far more than expected. This was a stark wake-up call, a sign that I couldn't go it alone. So, I joined the local gym and enlisted a personal trainer, committing to three sessions a week. My kids find it amusing that I've transformed into a bit of a gym enthusiast!

The rewards have been substantial. I've had to replace my entire wardrobe with smaller sizes, and I feel absolutely fantastic. Even better, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels have dropped back into the normal range. What makes me most proud is the shift in my attitude toward food. To those considering the program, my advice is to be brutally honest with both yourself and your dietitian. They are the unsung heroes of this program, offering invaluable support and guidance. And here's a tip: menu planning and meal prep can be real game-changers on your journey to a healthier, happier you.”
