I think it gives you a false sense of security that you know what you’re doing on your own,” explains Emily. “I knew myself well enough to know I would be more disciplined if I was accountable to someone else. The way I think about it is, if I need help with something outside my expertise I will pay someone to get it done. I’m not going to tell you it’s easy, but it’s accessible – and it works.”
Ashlee – Lost 17.6kg^
“I’m not good with the philosophical stuff,” laughs Ashlee. “But honestly, stick with it. Give it time and it will happen! I joined when I realised that I’d tried to do it on my own before, and it hadn’t worked. If anything, I had gotten worse. I knew I needed proper help from a professional team. Keeping really consistent at the start was the hardest part I think. Especially when you’re not seeing a lot of change, it’s hard. Instead, I worked hard to learn how to cook food that tastes as good as the food you get when you’re out!”

“Don’t be afraid. At the beginning I thought, how can I ever do this? To me, 40kg was an embarrassing amount to lose. But it does work. It’s hard to imagine in the beginning, but stick to it. Bring in other things, goals, aims, and smaller targets to incentivise you. It was my own initiative that got me started, and it’s been a good adventure. Once you get going you will build your own incentives,” says Jon.

“Take the risk. Make the call. Get started,” urges Damian. “You may completely change yourself for the better. And keep a bit of cash aside because you will probably have to buy a whole new wardrobe!”

“If you’re thinking about doing it, do the whole thing,” says Peter. “There are always going to be roadblocks in life. You are going to have good days, you are going to have bad days and it is hard work, but it is worth it. The program has a lot of structure and they know what works.”
