“I am 47 years old, so approaching 50,” says Scott. “I decided that I needed to get off the rollercoaster and make some major changes to my lifestyle and focus on my health and wellbeing before it was too late. I have been able to successfully lose weight on a number of occasions in the past following strict diets but found that it was not sustainable and subsequently put all of the weight back on. My wife suggested that I consider a weight loss clinic, and after some online research I took the plunge and made an appointment with the Lifeshape Clinic.”
In a bold move, Scott also decided to take a six month career break, resigning from his job as a Chemical Engineer in the Oil & Gas Industry.
“I realised I had worked for 26 years without a break, other than short holidays,” says Scott. “I was motivated to lose weight, but more importantly I was very motivated to improve my fitness and general health. Making the decision to have a break from work was a difficult decision not knowing what the future held; but it’s been the best decision I have made for many years! I needed to break the “Groundhog Day” cycle, reduce stress, and have time to focus on my health and changing lifestyle habits.”
What appealed to Scott most about the LifeShape Clinic, was the holistic approach to helping their clients break unhealthy patterns for good.
“I think the holistic approach to sustainable lifestyle change was the key for me,” says Scott. “I really enjoy drinking red wine, but through my program I realised that I was drinking far too much (several bottles every weekend) as it helped to reduce work stress. The amount of calories that I was consuming in the alcohol content of red wine was an eye opener! Now I enjoy drinking good red wine with the philosophy of quality over quantity!”
“It sounds like a cliché, but I honestly feel like a new person,” says Scott. “I feel healthy, have much more energy and now love exercising including walking our dogs. The cooking classes in the LifeShape Kitchen with Chef Tony were brilliant. I have always enjoyed cooking, but now with some great education I enjoy eating healthy, nourishing & tasty food.”
“My family have been extremely supportive of my journey and my mum has been inspired to walk every day. She now has a Fitbit and pushes herself to meet targets and track her weekly activity, she is awesome! My daughter is also very conscious of her health and eats clean food, including my salads!”
After his life changing weight loss and career break, Scott is now happily back at the same company in a different role.
“My biggest achievement and sense of satisfaction is the significant improvement in my health and fitness and passion for maintaining this moving forward,” says Scott. “I am looking forward to a longer life, and having the energy to do more and one day play with my future grandkids (but not just yet!). To help with this, I have signed up for a Support program, which is helping me to stay focused, accountable and continue with my new healthy eating, exercise and lifestyle habits.”
Scott has this advice for anyone thinking about taking the first step and giving the clinic a call.
“Don’t hesitate, just do it!” urges Scott. “The philosophy is amazing, and the support and encouragement of the entire LifeShape team is fantastic.”
