As a nurse and busy young mum, Ashlee decided it was time to regain control of her health and set a good example for her three year old daughter.
“My daughter was becoming more active and I loved taking her swimming at the beach and pool,” remembers Ashlee. “However, I was becoming increasingly self-conscious doing so. The line in the sand for me was weighing in at 97kg, and watching the scales continue to rise after having her. I began googling weight loss programs, looking for one that offered one on one consultations. I thought this kind of personalisation would be beneficial as I needed to be held accountable. It probably took me around a month to finally call the clinic, but I knew for my daughter’s sake I couldn’t remain unhealthy.”
Having tried other options in the past, Ashlee was quick to notice the key differences offered by LifeShape Clinic.
“I had tried a couple of fad diets, shake diets and the liver cleansing detox diet – they were successful for short periods of time but nothing I could stick to for longer than a couple of months,” says Ashlee. “The LifeShape program helped me realise I need an approaching that involved making lifelong changes instead of using fad diets. One thing LifeShape Clinic really focuses on is being much more mindful of what you do everyday, which I think has made all the difference. Having a one on one consultation with a clinician every week also helps keeps you on track.”
While Ashlee lost an inspiring 17.6kg on her LifeShape 9 program^, her journey wasn’t without its challenges.
“Keeping really consistent at the start was the hardest part I think,” says Ashlee. “Especially when you’re not seeing a lot of change, it’s hard. Instead I worked hard to learn how to cook food that tastes as good as the food you get when you’re out! I also found distraction techniques to stop myself from obsessing over everything I ate. During my one on one sessions with my Dietitian, I was able to set a meal plan, make goals and learn about the mental aspect of weight loss through my LifeShape manual.”
After her dedication to making positive changes, Ashlee is now enjoying the many rewards that good health brings.
“I’m so much stronger in my body,” says Ashlee. “I didn’t think I’d be able to keep up with the high intensity workouts, which really helped me lose the weight. However now I’m doing high intensity workouts multiple times a week. I feel like my brain is also now so much clearer. My husband has always been the healthier of the two of us. Since I’ve been on the program, he has even improved his eating habits as well.”
Looking back on her program, Ashlee is able to provide this advice to anyone thinking of joining a program.
“I’m not good with the philosophical stuff,” laughs Ashlee. “But honestly, stick with it. Give it time and it will happen! I joined when I realised that I’d tried to do it on my own before, and it hadn’t worked. If anything, I had gotten worse. I knew I needed proper help from a professional team.”
